I'm afraid this is another music related post. And one that I've been meaning to do for a while but never got round to it until now. I've mentioned it before but song lyrics are something that I find incredibly powerful. I'm the kind of person that will listen to a song and maybe because of a lyric, coupled with a key change or an amazing melody, it will provoke a reaction within me. It will hit me straight in my heart making me go "that is exactly how I feel", "that's exactly what I was thinking", "that is how I want to feel", "that's how I want someone to feel about me" or quite simply "those lyrics are beautiful."
So I've collated just a couple of songs where those lyrics have made me think one of those things. Some of them you may think are quite predictable or cliché, but forgive me, I'm a hopeless romantic, a typical girl. And yes - I pray that someday maybe, just maybe someone will think of me like a song lyrics writes it out. But as I said before, a lot of the time it is just that I think the words are beautiful. I completely admire people that can write their own songs, how you can collate lots of words to paint a picture, tell a story or convey your emotions within song form is incredible. Especially when they can provoke reactions such as the ones I mentioned above. I could have chosen so so many more to put down but if I did I would be writing until next week. So here you go, here is a snippet of some songs that represent what I've been talking about. I'd also like to add that these lyrics are at their best, in my opinion when listening to the actual song. Reading them straight off this page doesn't have quite the same effect as when it's heard with it's musical accompaniment..
"We'll make the moon our mirror ball, the streets an empty stage"
"We kissed like we invented it, and now I know what every step is for, to lead me to your door"
Elbow - Mirror ball
"If I lay here, would you lie with me and just forget the world"
"All that I am, all that I ever was, is here in your perfect eyes they're all I can see"
Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars
"There ain't nothing strong enough to keep me away from you. There could be a wall of fire, 10 feet higher and I would just walk on through"
David Ryan Harris - For you
"I pray that when the sun goes down on everything you've done, whoever's arms your sleeping in will warm you like the sun"
David Ryan Harris - Turn around
"I just want to hold you and never give you away. I just want to show you who I'm meant to be"
Karima Francis - Hold you
"So why should I worry, why do I freak out? God knows what I need, you know what I need. Your love is, your love is, your love is strong."
Jon Foreman - Your love is strong
