So, last night my friends Keith and Mel invited me round their house for a gathering. I assumed it was just a normal evening of hanging out and just enjoying each others company, although when I turned up I was greeted by some lovely words written on their front door which raised my suspicions slightly (and made me smile as well!)
Being a bit slow I didn't really think anything of it and went on in none the wiser, although going into the lounge there was a table full of cakes and snacks and a room beginning to fill up with some of my lovely friends. I was then enlightened that this was actually a mini leaving party for me. No, I'm not leaving Bournemouth forever, I'm just going to head office in London for 3 months with work. Even though I'll be back at weekends and it probably won't make a massive difference to the amount that I see a lot of my friends anyway, the fact that 11 people had decided to come out on a bank holiday evening to do this for me was very touching.
So 'my evening' consisted of a quiz about me (for once, a quiz I knew all the answers to), the animal game - I haven't heard that much laughter during a game for a long time, then also a couple of rounds of Werewolves and Villagers (aka Mafia) along with a lot of food and chat. A great night.
I left to go home with that smile still plastered on my face. It was an un-expected evening, but the surprise of it all was gratefully received. Maybe I'll 'unofficially leave' more often, although I think even I'd get bored of quiz's about myself eventually.
