As my time in London is drawing to a close I'm coming to the conclusion that it has it's good points and bad points. How decisive of me.
One of these downfalls is the amount of shops that are in the vicinity of where I work, including how quick it takes me to get to the shopping mecca/shopping hell that some call Oxford St. In normal circumstances there's no way I'd say that being near shops was a bad thing, but due to the fact in the last 2 months my self control levels have gradually plumetted and I've found myself 'investing' in things I wouldn't say were at the top of my list of priorities, for now - it's definitely a bad thing.
Don't get me wrong, I am the first person to admit that I enjoy shopping, especially if I'm with a friend or accompanied by my iPod. But it's when you look at your credit card statement and notice that your expenditure has increased all because of your favourite brands being on your doorstep and then you have the realisation that a lunchtime excursion has turned into an expensive hobby and has turned your self control into metaphorical dust.
Even though my day job involves working in one, I think I preferred my previous life of going to the shops every once in a while, it was almost like a treat and it made it all the more enjoyable - for myself and my credit card. So with that thought in mind I'm just going to hide my wallet deep in the bottom of my bag and hope that when I next reach for it my self control comes out instead.
